Soft but not too soft, and my head never bottoms out. Feels like my head is floating on air. And no rubber odor. There is a slight scent initially but it isn't unpleasant. I've been sleeping on this pillow for 10 days now and have never slept better. I don't find that it's any warmer than any other pillow. The pillow comes with a nice soft stretchy cotton cover. (I purchased a spare pillow for the future).
