Talk to your vet first. A wheelchair isn't right for every dog or every condition. Before you order, ask your vet whether a rear-support cart is appropriate for your dog's specific situation, and how long they recommend each session. PawRoll is a mobility aid; it doesn't replace clinical assessment, physiotherapy, or pain management.
🐶 For dogs with rear-leg weakness or paralysis 📐 Fully adjustable length, width, height 🧘 Padded mesh chest harness 📏 Three sizes — XS, S, M

What it actually is

A two-wheel rear-support cart with a padded chest harness. Your dog walks on their front legs; the cart cradles their hindquarters and rolls behind them on two large wheels. The aluminium frame adjusts in three directions (length between front and rear, width across the back, height off the ground) so you can set the geometry to your specific dog rather than buying a one-size cart and hoping it fits.

Honest note: this is a rear-support cart for dogs with weak or paralysed back legs and functional front legs. It's not the right product for dogs with front-leg weakness, full quadriplegia, severe acute spinal injury, or dogs over 58 cm chest measurement. Getting the fit right matters more than any other purchase decision — measure twice, and read the size chart carefully.

When it can help

With your vet's clearance, PawRoll is most often used for:

  • Age-related hindleg weakness — older dogs whose back legs aren't holding their weight on longer walks.
  • Hip dysplasia and hindleg arthritis — taking the load off the back legs while keeping the dog active.
  • IVDD recovery (intervertebral disc disease) — once your vet has cleared the dog for controlled cart use, post-acute phase.
  • Degenerative myelopathy (DM) — the slow loss of rear-leg coordination. A cart can extend the months of comfortable walks before the disease progresses further.
  • Post-surgery rehabilitation — under your vet's or a canine physiotherapist's supervision.

When it isn't the right product

  • Front-leg weakness or paralysis — this is a rear-support cart only. Your dog needs functional front legs to walk in it.
  • Full quadriplegia — a four-wheel custom cart is what you need; speak to a veterinary mobility specialist.
  • Acute spinal injury without vet clearance — some conditions need strict crate rest, not a cart. Always ask first.
  • Dogs over 58 cm chest measurement — Labrador, golden retriever, German shepherd, larger bulldogs and the like won't fit. PawRoll only goes up to medium.
  • Puppies whose growth plates haven't closed — cart use during growth needs vet-specific guidance and isn't a default-on use case.

Sizes

Use the size chart image. Measure your dog's chest girth (around the deepest part of the ribcage, behind the front legs) and the distance between front and rear legs (from the back of the front leg to the front of the rear leg, dog standing flat). Both measurements need to fall in range — chest sets the harness fit, leg distance sets the frame length.

  • XS — chest 35–41 cm — £69.95. Small breeds (Yorkshire terrier, miniature dachshund, smaller Pomeranian).
  • S — chest 38–45 cm — £79.95. French bulldog, standard dachshund, cavalier, cocker spaniel puppy.
  • M — chest 46–58 cm — £89.95. Cocker spaniel adult, beagle, smaller bulldog, miniature schnauzer.

If your dog falls between sizes, size up — a slightly loose fit can be padded; a too-tight harness rubs and chafes.

What's in the box

  • Aluminium-alloy adjustable frame
  • Padded mesh chest harness with leg openings
  • Two solid wheels (approximately 11.5 cm / 4.5" diameter)
  • Two rear leg-support loops (the dog's rear legs rest in these — they don't drag)
  • Adjustment hardware (clamps, fastenings)

Specs

  • Frame: adjustable aluminium-alloy. Length, width, and height all set with sliding clamps along the side rails.
  • Harness: padded mesh, machine-washable on a cool gentle cycle (air dry; do not tumble).
  • Wheels: solid (not pneumatic) — quieter and puncture-proof, but less forgiving on rough terrain than air-filled.
  • Use surfaces: indoor floors, paths, smooth grass, short pavement walks. Not designed for sustained off-road use.
  • Assembly: no tools required (subject to supplier confirmation — assembly tested before shipping).
  • Care: wipe frame with a damp cloth; remove harness for washing. Don't store wet — dry the frame and harness before putting it away.

Honest answers

Will my dog actually take to it?
Most dogs adapt within a few short sessions, especially if they've been struggling with mobility and the cart gives them back the ability to move. Some take longer — a week or two of short, positive sessions with treats and encouragement. A few dogs simply don't take to a cart at all, and that's also a reasonable outcome. Start with five-minute sessions on flat, familiar ground.
How do I get the fit right?
Three steps. (1) Measure your dog before you order — chest girth and front-to-rear leg distance. (2) When the cart arrives, assemble it but leave the frame loose. Fit the harness to your dog standing flat, then adjust the frame length so the rear-leg loops sit just behind your dog's hips, not pulling forward or pushing back. (3) Adjust the height so your dog's natural standing posture is supported — the back should be roughly horizontal, not tilted forwards or backwards. Take a photo from the side and compare with the photos on this page.
Can my dog go to the toilet while in the cart?
Yes — the rear is open. Dogs can pee and poop while the cart is on. This is one of the practical reasons rear-support carts work for daily use rather than just rehab sessions.
How long can my dog be in it for?
Ask your vet — it depends on the condition, your dog's general fitness, and how they're tolerating the cart. A typical starting point is short sessions (5–15 minutes) building up gradually. Long sessions can chafe even with a good harness fit; most dogs do best with multiple short walks rather than one long one.
What if my dog's rear paws drag?
The rear-leg loops should hold the legs up off the ground in normal use. If your dog's paws are knuckling (curling under) or dragging, the cart isn't quite at the right height — try adjusting the rear support up by one or two holes. If paws still drag, knuckle-protection booties (sold separately by other suppliers) prevent paw-pad damage. Speak to your vet about whether dragging indicates a change in your dog's condition that needs review.
Is it weatherproof?
The aluminium frame and plastic wheels handle rain. The padded mesh harness gets wet and takes a while to dry — bring a towel for British weather. Don't store it damp.
How long will it last?
Used on smooth indoor and pavement surfaces with normal cleaning, the frame should last for years. The harness is the wear part — heavy daily use will eventually compress the padding and abrade the mesh. Replacement harnesses can usually be sourced separately if needed.
What about my elderly large-breed dog?
This product only fits dogs up to 58 cm chest measurement — that's a cocker-spaniel size limit. Large-breed dogs (Lab, golden, GSD, larger bulldogs) need a bigger cart, often a custom-fit one from a veterinary mobility specialist. We'd rather you go to the right product than buy this one and find it doesn't fit.
Do you sell knuckle protectors / replacement parts?
Not yet — the standard cart is the only SKU at launch. If you need knuckle booties or a replacement harness, your vet's clinic or a specialist canine mobility supplier can usually help. Drop us a message if you'd like us to add accessories — we'll prioritise based on demand.

Who this is for

Owners of small-to-medium dogs with rear-leg weakness, paralysis, or recovery needs that their vet has cleared for cart-supported walking. People who've already had the difficult conversation with their vet and are looking for a value-tier cart that fits well, adjusts to their dog, and lets them keep walking together for as long as possible. Not a substitute for veterinary care — a supplement to it.

Fun & Fast moving toy for my cats!
Color: A1-Red
This is such a fun little toy to keep my cats entertained. They were definitely weary about it for the first few days, but started to get used to it and play with it after a bit. I wish there was an even slower option because the slow option is still pretty fast, but at least it gets them up and moving. They will even play with the tail part when it's not turned on. Like others have said, it does collect hair pretty easily, but it's very easy to clean off. I don't have any dogs, but I could see smaller dogs loving this as well!

That it’s usable for more than one day
Color: A3-Pink, Color: A3-Pink
The toy itself is great and my puppy enjoyed it. My problem is that it didn’t come with a charging cord and none of mine fit. It never changed colors. Maybe if I had a charger cord it would be worth it, but right now it’s useless!!

Fun for Fido but flimsy
Color: A2-Blue
My 15 yearold mini Schnauzer, Sam, played with this for less than 1 hour and tore the rubber sleeve off it. I will say the toy itself is a genius idea. Sam was absolutely ensconced. I wish it were made sturdier.

It does exactly what they say it does! Worth the money
Color: A1-Red
It arrived quickly. It’s a fun toy! It’s the right size for cats. Definitely worth the money. It is exactly as described. So far, the quality seems very good and it seems durable. The instructions are on the side of the box, which makes learning how to operate it easy. I love it that it’s red, because my kitty seems to be attracted to red. My kitty is very interested in it, yet isn’t quite sure what to think of it. I love that it changes directions on its own so that it doesn’t get stuck or lost under furniture, which is typical for a ball that cats play with. It seems to only go two, three or four feet in one direction and then it changes directions, which is both good and bad. I just wish it would go farther in one direction before changing directions so that my kitty could chase it farther, as we have plenty of space in our house for her to run. But that certainly could be a plus for other cats, enjoying not knowing where the ball is going to go next and really keep them on their toes.

Cat loves this
Color: A1-Red
This toy is great for keeping pets entertained. The ball moves quickly and the tail makes it even more fun for cats to chase. It’s rechargeable and easy to use, and my pet stayed interested much longer than with regular toys.
