"Moderately deep red colour with lighter garnet hues on the edge. The nose has good depth and a rounded core of dark-red cherry and berry fruit harmoniously interwoven with dark herbs and some stalk perfumes which add detail. Medium-bodied, the palate is sweet, luscious and juicy with fruit flavours od cherries and savoury strawberries entwined with dark herbs, and a little spicy, nutty and smoky oak. The fruit forms a rounded core with depth and presence, and is supported by smooth, supple tannins and integrated acidity. The wine flows easily and near-seamlessly to a light, nuanced finish. This is a smooth and rounded, supple Pinot Noir with luscious fruit flavours intermingling with soft notes of herbs and oak. Match with tuna and salmon, poultry and pork over the next 2-3 years. Pinot Noir fruit from the Wairau and Awatere valleys, fermented to 13.0% alc., all of the wine given French oak contact, 50% in barrels for 10 months, 10% new.
