In post-Gold Rush San Francisco, Ina Coolbrith was known as the pearl of her tribe, a tribe that included Bret Harte, Mark Twain, and John Muir. Jack London and Isadora Duncan considered her their literary godmother, and John Greenleaf Whittier knew more of her poems by heart than she did his. Regardless of the acclaim from others, Coolbrith met with a series of challenges throughout her life that tested her devotion to her art. In the end, she put her full faith in poetry and her story reveals the saving grace of creativity in a woman's life. Ina Coolbrith: The Bittersweet Song of California's First Poet Laureate is a new biography about a pioneer poet, Oakland's first public librarian, and the most popular literary ambassador in the early American West. George's deftly told and deeply researched book follows the struggles and triumphs of Coolbrith from her birth in 1841 as a niece of Mormon founder Joseph Smith to her death in 1928 as California's most beloved poet. California crowned Ina Coolbrith its first poet laureate in 1915 during San Francisco's Panama-Pacific International Exposition, and 2015 marks the centennial of her being named California's beloved first lady of letters. Aleta George writes about nature and culture in California. Her work has been featured in Smithsonian.com, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Los Angeles Times. This is her first book. "Telling Coolbrith's story, author Aleta George offers an intriguing glimpse of fin de si cle California and the rousing, sometimes rowdy adolescence of our nation." -Gerald Haslam, award-winning author and professor emeritus, Sonoma State University "In a book marked by literary grace and conviction, Aleta George presents a nuanced yet compelling portrait of a major California figure." -Malcolm Margolin, Heyday Books "Coolbrith's life is so captivating that it has been waiting not just for another biographer, but for a first-rate storyteller." - David Alpaugh, Ina Coolbrith CircleBinding Type: Paperback

Broke within an hour of assembly.
Size: 6 Panel-120"W, Color: Beige
This is of horrible quality. Within an hour of building, the feet support were broken on both ends, where they spin in place & do not stay straight to hold the divider up. Pieces of the plastic on the feet were broken simply from assembling the product.
The covers for the metal poles were the only reason I bought this divider instead of other similar products, however those only cover one side of the metal poles so they are still visible from the other side. Two of these covers were also torn & not useable within an hour of assembly, one was already partially ripped on arrival & the other one was ripped simply during assembly of the product.
I do not recommend this item & would have returned if I was still in the return window. I missed the return window because the product was bought during the holidays & I didn’t have time to mess with the return. I have not been able to use this product even once, the broken feet which do not stay in place make it very unstable & dangerous.

Shade for trees
Size: 4 Panel, Color: White, Size: 4 Panel, Color: White
Going to try to use these to shade my trees from the late afternoon sun. I just put them up so we will see how they do! I purposely bought the ones with curved feet since the flat feet wouldn’t have been sturdy on the rocks. Was easy to put together and they look nice. Debating the 6 pack so I can put two on each tree with the connectors.

Be Cooler About The Packaging and Instructions.
Size: 4 Panel, Color: Black
This packaging is TERRIBLE.
The "instructions" are TERRIBLE. They were just a single sheet with minimal info, SHOVED into the box randomly. Could've folded it flat and slid it in there. Both times I ordered this, I had this exact same experience.
Good thing I've put together tons of furniture and toys over the years.
I'm sure older people would have a hard time with assembling this.
At least it's light to move around without trouble, and blocks SOME light. Does not block the flood lights outside my building, which shine into my living room, but oh well.
