Put a drug in front of me and I turn into a dumpster, consuming everything in sight. I canÕt stop. Nothing can stop me. Mom canÕt stop me. Doctors canÕt stop me. Pills canÕt stop me. Nothing human or man-made can stop me. IÕm screwed. And yes I know itÕs wrong and IÕll ruin everything, but I donÕt care. Even if I do care and I donÕt want to lose my wife, job, family, savingsÉ I go get high anyway. ThatÕs how selfish I am. After 15 years of chronic addiction, I wanted to get better but couldnÕt. I had no power and no solution. Getting physically sober would just send me into a crippling depression. I wasnÕt okay with or without drugs until one night, up North, when I had a profound spiritual experience. I was equipped with a set of actions that saved my life and have brought untold miracles. I am recovered. I wrote this story to dispel the old clichŽ that people donÕt change. People do change. I am living proof.
