The Spitfire IXe was a development of the standard Spitfire IX that inverted the position of the 20mm cannons and replaced the outboard .30 caliber machine guns with .50 caliber weapons in the wing position formerly occupied by the cannons.
While the IXe wing entered production in the Spring of 1944, many Spitfires thought to be examples of this sub-type are actually earlier Spitfires, with a “field modification” to change the gun position, without the inner .50 caliber weapon, which was done due to the fact that with Spitfires being equipped with bomb racks for the fighter-bomber role in the invasion of France, having a 250-lb bomb and a 20mm cannon in the same wing location put too much strain on the wing structure.
Such an airplane was MK392, the Spitfire flown by Wing Commander Johnny Johnson when he returned to combat operations in March 1944 to assume command of a second Canadian Spitfire wing, 144 Wing in 83 Group of the 2nd Tactical Air Force which became 144 RCAF (Fighter) Wing, a fighter/bomber unit comprised of 441, 442 and 443 Squadrons. MK392, the Spitfire Johnson flew with 144 Wing has now been identified as being originally produced as a Spitfire IXc. In June 1944, Johnson had an MU modify the airplane by changing the gun positions, which was not difficult since MK392 used the large teardrop-shaped “universal gun cover.” All the Spitfires in 144 Wing, which did include some early IXe airplanes that were not equipped with the .50 caliber machine guns (which only made their appearance in the fall of 1944 due to production delays of the weapons), removed the outer .30 caliber weapons to save weight since the rifle-caliber weapons were not considered particularly effective either in strafing or air combat.

Air Vice Marshal James Edgar Johnson, CB, CBE, DSO & Two Bars, DFC & Bar (9 March 1915 – 30 January 2001), nicknamed "Johnnie", was a Royal Air Force (RAF) pilot and flying ace. Johnson was credited with 34 individual victories over enemy aircraft, as well as seven shared victories, three shared probable, 10 damaged, three shared damaged and one destroyed on the ground. Johnson flew 700 operational sorties and engaged enemy aircraft on 57 occasions.
Included in his list of individual victories were 14 Messerschmitt Bf 109s and 20 Focke-Wulf FW 190s destroyed making him the most successful RAF ace against the FW 190. This score made him the highest scoring Western Allied fighter ace against the German Luftwaffe.
Johnson scored the bulk of his victories flying two Spitfires Mk. IX. The first one was EN398 JE-J, in which he shot down 12 aircraft and shared five, plus six damaged while commanding the Kenley Wing. His second plane , MK392, was an LF Mk.IX, in which his tally increased by another 12 aircraft, plus one shared destroyed on the ground. He was to end the war flying another Spitfire Mk XIVe MV268.
As a Wing Leader Johnson was entitled to personal code letters and his aircraft were always marked JE-J.

no white cast, super moisturizing, dewy finish, citrus scent
Style: Face, Size: 2 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Style: Face, Size: 2 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have a shelf of sunscreens. I am trying to find the perfect sunscreen for daily use on my face. I happen to be fair skinned, so if it happens to have a white cast, it isn't too noticeable. But still, I'd like to not even have to worry about it. I also would prefer not to use chemical sunscreens. I often use those on my body, but for my face which is more sensitive- the physical (mineral) sunscreens is better for me. There is NO white cast with this, so definitely fine for darker skin tones if you are looking for a physical sunscreen. This sunscreen is nice. I hot days or days I know where I will be sweating a bit, I don't bother with my expensive skin care routine, since I am likely to sweat it off. This sunscreen offers some skin care goodies above and beyond non nano zinc oxide. So I feel like I am still doing something for my skin, including moisturizing it. According to description, it has antioxidant super plants: --Juanilama: anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-oxidant (87% more than vitamin E) properties, and --Fierillo: anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, skin healing, and antioxidant properties; plus.. --Wakame Kelp: reinforce skin defenses again environment, etc --Tazman Pepper: reduces skin inflammation and redness, and --Arabica coffee oil: lubricates skin. regenerates hydrolipid barrier to promote hydration and skin repairing. Smells energizing- like a punch of citrus fruit. It lingers for a little while then seems to dissipate. I can get it near my eyes and they don't get irritated. Kinda surprised it is a strong scent for something that is likely to go on the face. Bottles says no synthetic colors, fragrances or unhealthy ingredients. "Fragrance" is vague here, and although maybe not synthetic, it should be cleared up as to what it is. The company says in answering one of the questions that the fragrance comes from essential oils- if so, they should list the essential oils used. I imagine it is a citrus blend, but essential oils are different than just listing "fragrance". It would be helpful to see exact oils used. Then in another question answered, it was not mentioned that essential oils are used to create fragrance, but that it would be naturally occurring from some of the other ingredients. Which is it? If it is the latter, then the company would be doing themselves a favor by taking the word fragrance out of the ingredient list since not only would it be redundant to keep it in there it could scare off people who are avoiding "fragrance" as a listed ingredient. A product can have a scent due to other ingredients used that have a naturally occurring scent .. and and still be fragrance free. If it is a matter of it being from essential oils.. then that should be listed as well- for better or worse- but at least it is transparent information. Some people have strong reactions to essential oils on their face, whether from scent or from the activity they have. Some dont have reaction. Yet Some have strong reactions to "fragrance" as an added ingredient. Normally I see "fragrance" on a bottle and choose something else, as it typically depicts synthetic, and if it isn't synthetic then it doesn't need to be listed generically as fragrance, but instead specifically as to what the fragrance is derived from. Anyway, I thought I would add that as I am sure there will be potential customers looking at the ingredient list and this may help them one way or another. I hope this review has been helpful to you. If I learn anything new, I will be sure to come back to update. Take care all :) List of ingredients: Water, Coco-Caprylate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Glycerin, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Lauryl Glucoside, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Oil, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Phytic Acid, Arrabidaea Chica, Lippia Alba, Undaria Pinnatifida Extract, Ethyl Macadamiate, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin

Very Satisfied!
Style: Face, Size: 2 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This is far better than some of the other facial sunscreens I have tried. It isn’t too thick, it has a smooth texture, and it does not leave the dreaded white cast that many do. It has a slight citrusy smell which some may not prefer, but it is not a deal breaker for me. I will definitely buy it again and continue using as my daily moisturizer.

Not a huge fan of this
Style: Face, Size: 2 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
The pump bottle doesn't work, which isn't great but is also not a deal breaker. You can twist off the cap and get the product out that way. I may have just gotten a defective bottle, who knows? The sunscreen itself has a really nice texture like others have said and it goes on smoothly with no cast. But it also smells strongly like incense; several very fragrant plant ingredients at play here even though it has no artificial fragrances. Rosemary, some kind of australian pepper plant, and other strong smelling ingredients. If strong smells bother you, you might not like this one. I really don't like this smell. It made my skin red and itchy too, unfortunately. Not something I can really use :( Love what the company is doing with the clean ingredients, though. Lots of pros and cons here and I'd definitely recommend trying it out even though it wasn't my cup of tea. Getting the small sample size to start with was the right move!

I Look Forward to Using it Daily
Style: Face, Size: 2 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I've used this for at least four years and it's my favorite daily defense sunscreen. I notice some people had reactions but I have sensitive skin and rosacea and am have no irritation from this product. But everyone is different ... It goes on with a hardly noticeable hint of white then is quickly absorbed. Almost seems to even out my pigmentation a little. For those who mentioned it's dry, I don't expect this to be a moisturizer and use it on top of a treatment from the dermatologist. It smells fresh but isn't strongly scented. I've also tried Elta MD and it's a good product but this is less expensive for more product. The pump is handy until it can't reach and it becomes necessary to take the lid off and tap the remaining product into your palm each day. There's a good week or so left when the pump comes up empty. Hope you have as good of luck as I have. Some mention oiliness and piling but that hasn't been the case, but I order from the manufacturer directly which may insure I get the freshest batch.
