Cisco EPA-QSFP-1X100GE ASR 1000 Series 1x 100GB QSFP100 Router Port Adapter

This adapter is designed for use with the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Aggregation Services Routers. It offers high-speed connectivity and is equipped with a single 100 Gigabit QSFP28 port. The QSFP (Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable) module allows for flexible configuration, supporting different media types (copper or fiber) and various optical requirements (single- or multimode fiber) as needed. The Cisco ASR 1000 Series routers benefit from this adapter by achieving greater Ethernet density and a lower price per port. However, it’s important to note that this fixed configuration means the Ethernet line cards are not compatible with the Shared Port Adapters (SPAs) used with the SPA interface processors. Instead, the Ethernet line cards occupy the slot of the SPA interface processor. Additionally, the Cisco ASR 1000 Series Modular Interface Processor (ASR1000-MIP100) provides full-duplex 100-Gbps modular Ethernet capabilities. It can host up to two Cisco ASR 1000 Series Ethernet Port Adapters (EPAs), introducing 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to the Cisco ASR 1000 Series. These EPAs offer feature parity and functionality similar to the SPA interface processor and SPA combination. The ASR 1000 Series routers benefit from rich Ethernet Layer 2, Layer 3, IP, IPv6, and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) packet-processing capabilities, as previously provided on the Cisco ASR 1000 Series platforms.
