Our Malaysian Driftwood Slabs are a versatile and natural hardscape option for freshwater aquariums and planted tanks. These flat, textured pieces are ideal for creating natural-looking layouts, mounting epiphytic plants, or adding subtle structure without overwhelming the aquarium.
Each slab measures approximately 8-10 inches in length and is individually selected. Natural variations in shape, thickness, and texture are to be expected. No two pieces are exactly alike.
Available Variants
- No Hole: A clean, natural slab ideal for general hardscape use or custom plant placement
- Drilled Hole (Approx. 3/4"): Designed for embedding plants such as Anubias, allowing rhizomes to anchor naturally into the wood
The drilled option provides a simple, secure way to mount plants without glue or thread, creating a clean and polished look once established.
Features & Benefits
- Natural Malaysian driftwood with rich texture and character
- Flat slab shape works well for foreground or midground placement
- Excellent for attaching Anubias, Java Fern, mosses, and similar plants
- Provides surface area for beneficial biofilm
- Safe for freshwater aquariums and planted tanks
Setup & Preparation
Before placing your Malaysian Driftwood Slab in the aquarium, we recommend rinsing it thoroughly under clean water to remove any surface debris. For faster waterlogging and to reduce initial tannins, the wood can be soaked for several days or boiled for 30-60 minutes if size allows. Boiling also helps remove trapped air and surface residue. Once prepared, the slab can be placed directly in the aquarium or positioned to embed plants such as Anubias into the drilled opening. As with all natural driftwood, some tannin release is normal and will diminish over time or with regular water changes.
