Two-Way Messaging: A simple user interface through the Garmin Messenger app on any compatible smartphone makes it easy to exchange text messages with loved ones via satellite or mobile networks.
Seamless Connection: Optimised inReach messaging uses a mobile connection from a connected smartphone when it’s available, then it seamlessly switches to a 100% global Iridium satellite network when beyond the available mobile coverage range.
Group Messaging: With the Garmin Messenger app, the inReach connection supports group message threading and distribution. Allowing the sharing of adventures with multiple contacts simultaneously - and have group text chats with friends and family.
Interactive SOS Alerts: In case of emergency, trigger an interactive SOS message to the Garmin IERCC, a 24/7-staffed emergency response coordination centre.
Location Sharing: Share location with loved ones back home anytime by using the MapShare page or with GPS coordinates embedded in messages.
Flexible Satellite Airtime Plans: To access the global Iridium network and communicate with the inReach Messenger satellite communicator, an active satellite subscription is required. Opt for an annual package or a flexible month-to-month plan.

On-Device Display: The inReach Messenger satellite communicator's high-end memory-in-pixel screen gives the ability to confirm that messages have been sent, and shows read responses right on the device.
Check-In Messages: Check in with contacts directly from the inReach Messenger satellite communicator by using preset messages that do not count toward the allotted text messages with an active satellite subscription.
Other Garmin Devices: Remotely control the inReach Messenger satellite communicator to send and receive text messages or trigger an interactive SOS using any compatible Garmin handhelds, marine equipment, aviation equipment, wearables or other select smart devices.
inReach Weather Forecast Service: Get detailed weather updates on inReach Messenger satellite communicator or a paired compatible device. It can even request forecasts for the current location, other waypoints or destinations on the itinerary.
Tracback Routing: The TracBack routing feature navigates back to the starting point back along the track taken, preventing the user from getting lost - right on the device.
