Background
The TLR family of proteins plays a key role in innate immunity by detecting conserved microbial molecular patterns like lipoproteins, lipopolysaccharides, flagellin, and nucleic acids. These type I transmembrane glycoproteins feature a single transmembrane domain and a conserved intracellular domain.
