Common Names: Bordelon Banana, Red Banana
Family: Musaceae
Origin: Hybrid cultivar

Bordelon Banana (Musa 'Bordelon') is a striking ornamental banana plant known for its vibrant foliage and unique appearance. This tropical beauty is prized for its large, paddle-shaped leaves that feature a dramatic combination of deep green and rich burgundy hues. Though primarily grown for its stunning foliage, the Bordelon Banana may also produce small, edible bananas under optimal conditions. This fast-growing plant is perfect for adding a bold, tropical flair to gardens, patios, and landscapes.

The Bordelon Banana is best known for its spectacular foliage. The large, paddle-shaped leaves have a deep green upper surface with a striking maroon underside. The young leaves often have a reddish tint that gradually darkens as they mature. This coloration makes the plant a standout feature in any tropical or subtropical garden.

While the Bordelon Banana is primarily grown as an ornamental, it can produce small, inedible bananas if grown in the right conditions. The flowers are typical of banana plants, appearing as a large inflorescence with bracts that reveal the small, tubular flowers.

This banana variety is an excellent choice for adding height, texture, and color to tropical-themed gardens. It can be used as a focal point in landscape designs, grown in large containers on patios, or even as a houseplant in cooler climates.

Fantastic and Thought-Provoking
Mishima is a complicated figure in literary and Japanese history, but this film manages to capture the complexity of the man without seeming like it either loves or hates him. Great cinematography and the reenactments of Mishima's stories are wonderful. Music is fantastic as well.

Great movie, DVD shipped quickly and in good repair
This is an excellent movie made by one of Scorsese's assistants on Taxi Driver. Combining factual detail with highly stylized excerpts from Mishima's writing, the movie seeks to explain the enigma of this well-known Japanese author. Mishima was a prolific writer, an actor, ran his own private military academy, and in his early forties attempted to bring back the emperor and Bushido to Japanese society. Anyone familiar with the Mishima story knows things ended badly, with Mishima committing traditional Japanese sepuku. The music by Philip Glass adds great dramatic enhancement!

In my opinion this is one of the greatest films ever made
In my opinion this is one of the greatest films ever made, So beautifully shot and composed. An incredible true story that brings goosebumps even after repeated viewings, The extras include a documentary about Mishima that is excellent. Even after seeing this movie and all the extras, reading Mishima’s books and researching him online, I am still puzzled by the man and his myth. Watch this film!!! It will blow you away!
