In a style familiar to fans of the original white, roller-buttoned H9 Max, the H9 Gen 2 delivers a streamlined, compact multi-effect bank with improvements on every level. The H9 Gen 2 retains its predecessor's unintrusive shape and footprint with a 2.5" display screen and control button pads and knobs. Keeping everything in-house and under the pedal's two footswitches, the H9 Gen 2 requires no app to operate, meaning the effortless, intuitive, on-the-fly operation you need to get right down to music making.

The H9 Gen 2 comes ready with over seventy-four effect algorithms including the full Eventide H90 and H9 Max libraries. Got those favorites hot-keyed on your original H9? Fear not, they've crossed over into this next generation, no problem. Over one thousand preset slots and all-new algorithms throughout make the Gen 2 H9 a new venture altogether – and an endless one, at that! New innovations from Eventide, like high-fidelity SIFT technology powering incredible polyphonic pitch-shifting, deliver for massively powerful and expressive digital effects. What's more, new Harmonizer+ Vocal Suite effects bring vocal performance to the table with a Mixing Link cable, sold separately.

Redesigned connections for wireless Bluetooth control via a Mac or iPad, MIDI, auxiliary switching, and expression pedals make for a lean, mean machine primed to work into your most cluttered motherboard rigs. So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
