Domaine Tempier in Bandol, France has been a leader in sustainable viticulture for generations. Their dedication to natural methods extends from using lunar cycles to guide their planting and harvesting to incorporating sheep to weed their vineyards. They believe this biodynamic approach results in healthier vines and richer grapes. The Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge La Tourtine is a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Cinsault grapes grown on a sunny, windy hillside with clay-rich soil. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and fermented using native yeasts before being aged for 18 months in large oak vats. This results in a wine that s approachable now with its black cherry, blood orange, and iron notes, but structured for aging for up to 20 years or more.
